The Basic Endovascular Skills for Trauma (BEST) Workshop will be held after the WPTC conference on Friday, July 20 at 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Register for the workshop along with the conference for an additional $375.00.
The use of interventional procedures in vascular trauma has significantly increased over the past ten years. Translational studies have noted the physiologic benefits of REBOA in the setting of abdominal and pelvic hemorrhage. Recent clinical series have demonstrated safe and effective control of hemorrhage using REBOA in trauma patients with life-threatening hemorrhage below the diaphragm. This skill set can be performed safely in the resuscitation suite using x-ray. This Workshop is intended to serve as an Introduction to REBOA, and those who wish to pursue more in-depth training may inquire about the BEST Course (BEST@facs.org) which offers more hands-on training with cadavers including ultrasound guided access, percutaneous and open cannulation of the common femoral artery (CFA), and CFA repair.
